What are the Common Faults for Crawler Mucking Loaders?

Crawler mucking loaders are essential machines used in mining and tunneling to efficiently remove muck and debris. However, like any heavy machinery, they are prone to certain common faults. Understanding these issues and their solutions can help maintain optimal performance and extend the lifespan of the equipment. Here are some common problems and their troubleshooting methods:

1. Impact and Inflexible Drill Rotation Mechanism

Symptoms: The drill rotation mechanism operates sluggishly or erratically.

Causes: This issue may arise due to low oil pressure or insufficient lubrication of moving parts.

Solutions: Adjust the oil pressure to the recommended levels. If the problem persists, inspect and replace worn-out components or overhaul the machinery to ensure proper lubrication and functionality.

2. Low Drilling Speed

Symptoms: The drilling process is slower than expected.

Causes: Possible reasons include a short drill tail (commonly known as the drill bit), a short drill head, or leakage in the high-pressure accumulator.

Solutions: Replace or repair the drill head and tail. For accumulator leakage, replace the faulty parts and recharge the accumulator as needed.

3. Overheating of Oil and Machine

Symptoms: The oil temperature and machine temperature rise excessively.

Causes: This can be due to insufficient water or oil supply, low voltage, malfunctioning cooling systems, or prolonged idling.

Solutions: Increase the water pressure to clear any blockages in the pipeline, add oil as required, and inspect and repair moving parts. Check the power supply and ensure the machine is turned off when not in continuous operation to prevent overheating.

4. Excessive Pump Noise

Symptoms: The pump produces loud noises during operation.

Causes: This could be due to pump damage, motor bearing failure, or temperatures below freezing.

Solutions: Conduct a thorough inspection of the pump and repair or replace damaged components. Repair the motor or allow the machine to idle at low temperatures until it warms up to at least 460°C before full operation.

5. Oil Leaks

Symptoms: Oil leaks from the machine.

Causes: Damaged drill seals, impact arrows, cracked parts, or loosening of components in contact with the ground.

Solutions: Replace damaged seals and impact arrows. Inspect and repair or replace cracked parts. Secure or replace loose components to prevent further leakage.

6. Inability to Adjust System Pressure

Symptoms: The system pressure cannot be regulated.

Causes: This may result from the motor running in reverse, incorrectly connected pressure pipes, or a damaged pump.

Solutions: Correct the wiring of the motor and pressure pipes. Inspect the pump for damage and repair or replace faulty parts as necessary.

Regular maintenance and timely troubleshooting are crucial to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of crawler mucking loaders. By addressing these common faults promptly, operators can minimize downtime and maintain productivity in mining and tunneling operations.
