How to Safely Use a Mining Mucking Loader?

A mucking loader is a crucial piece of mining equipment that combines a mechanical arm with a conveyor belt to integrate mucking and loading functions. It operates on an electric fully hydraulic control system, offering features such as safety, environmental friendliness, low energy consumption, and high efficiency. This advanced mining equipment is essential for mines and small tunnels, acting as a replacement for manual labor and other machinery. Hydraulic mucking loaders, especially wheeled and hydraulic models, are powerful tools that increase efficiency. But how can they be used safely and effectively?

1. Operator Training:

It is essential to provide comprehensive training for mucking loader operators (with designated personnel handling the equipment). Unauthorized operation is strictly prohibited. Both operators and maintenance staff must have a solid understanding of the machine, relevant theoretical knowledge, and must strictly adhere to safety procedures.

2. Safe Storage During Idle Periods:

When not in use, the bucket of the mucking loader should never be positioned upwards or swung to the sides. Instead, it should be placed on the conveyor belt or on the ground. This prevents potential hydraulic cylinder malfunctions that could cause the bucket to fall, posing a risk to workers.

3. Pre-Operational Checks:

Before starting production, a thorough inspection of the mucking loader is necessary. This includes checking the condition of the cables, ensuring a stable power supply, and verifying that voltage levels are normal. It is prohibited to operate the machine under unstable or insufficient voltage. Additionally, inspect hydraulic components for oil leaks, ensure the control lever operates smoothly without any sluggishness, and verify that the conveyor belt is in good condition.

4. Empty Load Test Before Work:

Once all checks are completed and the machine is confirmed to be in normal condition, the loader should be run without load for a brief period. This ensures that the hydraulic oil reaches an optimal temperature of around 20°C before beginning full operation.

5. Safety During Operation or Adjustment:

When operating or adjusting the mucking loader, it is strictly forbidden for personnel to work within the range of the rotating arm or bucket. If unusual noises are detected during operation, immediately cut the power to prevent further damage or accidents.

6. Avoid Forcing Malfunctions:

If the mucking loader’s control lever becomes sluggish or unresponsive, never attempt to force it to operate. Additionally, the pressure on the machine’s safety valve should never be adjusted without proper authorization. Always follow the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure the machine operates safely and efficiently.

By following these safety guidelines, operators can ensure that the mucking loader performs optimally, minimizing the risk of accidents and maximizing productivity in the mining environment. Proper usage, regular maintenance, and adherence to safety protocols are key to effective and secure operation.
